Saturday Eye Exams in the Upstate

Eye care has a scheduling problem. Most optical offices are open exactly when most people are at work, which quietly turns a routine exam into a half day of paid leave. Across the Upstate that hits some people much harder than others: nurses and plant workers on shift, teachers who cannot leave a classroom, parents juggling school pickup, students with back to back labs.

We hold Saturday appointments every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the boutique in Pendleton. Not one Saturday a month, not seasonally. Every week.

Who Saturdays tend to work for

Families

A Saturday morning lets a family come in together rather than making three separate weekday trips. Children are more cooperative before lunch than after a full school day, and nobody is watching the clock.

Shift workers

If your weekday is spent on a floor, a line or a ward, an appointment between 8:30 and 1:00 on a Saturday may be the only realistic window. We keep the same exam and the same time with the doctor that a weekday appointment gets.

Students and university staff

For the Clemson community, Saturdays avoid the class and lab timetable entirely. It is also the easiest day for a parent visiting for the weekend to get a student sorted out with an exam and frames in one trip.

Commuters

If you work in Greenville and live closer to the lakes, a Saturday keeps the exam off the end of an already long weekday. Several of our clients from Greenville and Easley make the drive on a Saturday morning and treat it as part of the weekend.

What a Saturday exam includes

Exactly what a weekday exam includes. A comprehensive exam runs about thirty minutes and covers your current prescription, how your eyes work together at distance and near, wide field retinal imaging, eye pressure measured without an air puff, and an evaluation of the front surface of the eye. For most patients, no dilation drops are needed, which matters more than usual on a Saturday when you have the rest of the day planned. We explain that in detail in our no-dilation exam guide.

The quieter advantage of a weekend fitting

An exam is only half of the visit for most people. The other half is choosing frames and deciding on lenses, and that part genuinely benefits from not being rushed. On a Saturday morning you are not squeezing a fitting into a lunch break, which means you can try frames properly, see them in daylight and take the time to get the styling and fit right.

Practical notes for booking

Saturday slots fill earlier than weekday slots, particularly in August and September when students return and again in December when vision benefits are about to reset. If you know you want a Saturday, book a week or two out rather than calling on Friday.

Bring your current glasses, contact lens boxes if you wear them, your vision plan card, and a list of medications. We accept Community Eye Care and select EyeMed plans, and CareCredit is available for qualifying purchases. O'Boutique Luxury Optical is at 7511 US 76, Suite 400, in Pendleton Plaza, Pendleton, South Carolina. Pendleton is our only location, and it sits centrally enough that Anderson, Seneca and Hartwell, Georgia clients regularly make the trip. Weekday hours are Monday through Wednesday 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Thursday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturdays 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
