Starck Eyes Eyewear in Pendleton, SC
Philippe Starck design intelligence, engineered into every temple.

A house built on discipline, not trend.

Starck Eyes began as a collaboration between industrial designer Philippe Starck and eyewear designer Alain Mikli, launched in 1996 with a manifesto to rethink the frame from first principles. The result was a house built on the belief that the smallest details, a hinge, a nose bridge, the balance point behind the ear, could redefine the entire object.
Nearly three decades on, Starck remains an eyewear laboratory, with frames drawn in Paris and refined through prototype after prototype before they reach a collection.
“Design is intelligence made visible. A frame should disappear into the face it belongs to.”
Detail you can feel before you can see.
Biolink Hinge
The signature articulated hinge, inspired by the human shoulder, lets the temple move in more than one plane for a relaxed, self adjusting fit.
Titanium Architecture
Ultralight titanium construction produces frames that feel like almost nothing on the face while holding their shape.
Studio Prototyping
Every collection begins in the Paris studio, where silhouettes are tested for balance, symmetry, and how the frame reads at conversation distance.
Silhouettes worth knowing by name.
The signature biolink optical, the frame that made the hinge famous.
A sculpted titanium half rim engineered for zero pressure points.
Modern aviator in ultralight metal with tailored proportions.
Editorial rectangular with Starck’s signature articulated temple.
Who Starck suits
- Long screen days, where weight and pressure points are what you actually notice by five o’clock.
- Minimalist wardrobes, and anyone who prefers engineering to ornament.
- Sensitive skin or previous trouble with heavier acetate, since titanium is light and hypoallergenic.

Fit notes
The articulated hinge does most of the work, which means these frames tend to self adjust rather than need tightening. What matters is the initial set: nose pad angle, temple length and the balance point behind the ear. Titanium holds an adjustment well, so once we get it right it usually stays right. Half rim models need their nylon cord checked periodically, and we do that while you wait.
Lens notes
Lightweight frames deserve lightweight lenses, so we tend toward thinner high index material to keep the whole pair as weightless as it feels in the tray. Half rim and rimless constructions place real demands on lens edging, and we specify accordingly. Anti reflective coating is close to standard here, particularly for screen work.
