Questions Patients Ask
What is included in an eye exam?
A comprehensive exam covers your vision and your eye health. We measure your prescription, check eye pressure, capture high resolution retinal images and screen for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. We finish by discussing how your eyes are used day to day so your lenses suit your real life.
How long does an eye exam take?
Plan for about 30 minutes. A first time contact lens fitting takes longer, and you are welcome to stay afterward to browse frames with an optician.
Do I need an appointment?
Eye exams are by appointment. Frame browsing, adjustments and quick repairs are welcome as walk ins during boutique hours.
Are Saturday appointments available?
Yes. O’Boutique offers Saturday eye exams every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, which is popular with working professionals and families from Clemson and Anderson.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept Community Eye Care, select EyeMed plans and CareCredit. Call us with your card details and we will verify your benefits before your visit.
Do you accept EyeMed?
We accept select EyeMed plans. Because EyeMed coverage varies by employer, call the boutique at 864-502-0102 and we will confirm whether your specific plan is accepted.
Do you accept Community Eye Care?
Yes, Community Eye Care is accepted for exams, frames and lenses.
Can I purchase glasses after my exam?
Yes, and most patients do. Your optician walks the boutique with you straight after the exam, so frame styling, measurements and lens selection all happen in one visit.
Do you offer contact lens fittings?
We fit soft, toric, multifocal and specialty lenses. A fitting includes measurements of your cornea, a trial pair and a follow up to confirm comfort and vision.
How often should I have an eye exam?
Most adults benefit from a yearly exam. Annual visits are especially important if you wear contact lenses, have a family history of eye disease, or live with diabetes or high blood pressure.
